Business discussed:
Betty Woj let us know there was a new quilt shop opening in Dayton.
Suzan will be creating a website for the guild, & she will also be doing the photographs of the meeting & the blog.

Kathleen McMullen discussed AQS show & sign up requirements. This guild is being asked to fill the positions in the check in & the bag check area, - so get to the Volunteer Spot site ladies & sign in. These are fun spots as you meet shoppers from the show.
As there are no hostesses this year the number of volunteers needed is way down from our previous 2 yrs. And as we are not doing the charity quilt this year, we don't need to man that spot either, so we should be able to fill the bag check requirements.

The above is the link to the person whose book I used to assist with the technique for making the tshirt quilt. Also drew inspiration from many sites that I googled in deciding on how to quilt it.

PROGRAM.
3 different techniques demoed this month.
Dobbie's demo of faux applique by coloring on fabric.
Quick notes on this to hopefully jog memories.
Iron on high setting til no wax color comes out of paper.
For shading, - heat on freezer paper, then rub crayon to get it melted. Rub with pointed end of paper towel, then apply for shading. You can also use friction pen to draw then use crayon.
Barn quilts with Linda.

Faux applique with Debbie.
Use child's light box (Walmart $20).
Derwent Inktense pencils, - color just inside the lines. Use highlighting technique. Leave on freezer paper, then seal with textile medium, - only on the color inside the line. Leave overnight. Then seal with iron.
Cut fusible batting same size, then lay the applique piece on top of fusible side til done.
Then we had lovely refreshments, which is becoming more like a light luncheon. Thanks to the ladies that brought things for the table.
NEXT MEETING: July 13th, 2016.
Enjoy your summer ladies, - keep cool in the house & quilt.
