Stitching in the Mall for National Quilting Day, March 21st.
For those that volunteered, let Lauren know if you are unable to attend.
I recently saw some flannel at a great price being offered by Marshalls Dry Goods. The group agreed to buy 2 bolts for Ronald McDonald quilt backings.
Unfortunately, when I tried to order, everything was already gone. Will keep watching & order as soon as I see something next time.
May picnic is to be held at Judy's house this year. We had previously talked about having a home made gift to play the Chinese Auction, - but due to time constraints for some members, this is now open to whatever you wish it to be, with value of approx $15.
The papers that Kathleen sent around at the last meeting requesting that members give her program suggestions was very poorly responded to. Please email Kathleen any ideas that you may have & clarify clearly. Bring in lecturer does not give her much information. Nor does 'show techniques. Suggest the lecturer & the technique that you wish to see. Volunteer to teach something you are good at. When a member volunteers to head something, we need to give them full membership backing.
This month's program, - put together by me at the last minute as no one else volunteered.
Topic, - Stars, but don't worry about the points.
Wonky Star:
When using this block for a quilt, alternate the colored star with a reverse of this, white for star, color for background.
Check out Jenny doing the demo of this

Wedge Star.
Putting it together.
The finished star
If you don't have a wedge ruler, you could draw out your wedge to make a template.
To get the background for this star, you start with Half Square Triangles. To see a video of how to make 8 of these from a sqaure of fabric, go to this webpage.
To see Jenny do a different technique to my approach, go here.

Ronald McDonald Quilts, - Denise.
Denise made up kits from the remainder of Donna's fabric & offered us a challenge.
You must use these 2 fabrics, - partial or all of it.
Add more fabrics to these to make any size quilt from baby size to throw.
Return it to guild in October, & it will be voted on for a prize. Categories will be: Most Original, Cutest, Best Boy, Best Girl.
Have fun.
UFO Program, - Gayle.
This block will go on the backing to the above quilt.
