MEETING OF JANUARY 8th, 2017

Happy New Year ladies.
Dawn here giving a synopsis of the meeting, to the best of my memory.
It sure was good to see you all again after being absent for a while.
It was a fun meeting, with Beverly B as our chair, doing a wonderful job of keeping us in line & on track.
Discussion of participating in a Mystery Quilt program this year.  Rhonda presented an option that she could access & run for $100 total cost.  Debbie M presented an online option that she came across that would cost $25 per participant.
The group decided to go with Rhonda's option, with the guild paying the $100 cost.
This will commence in February.
I brought the finished & unfinished charity quilts that were given to us by Janice C.
Some of the finished quilts had already been given to Pins & Needles Quilt shop to donate to families of the tragic school bus accident, & one may have gone to a Gatlinburg family that lost their  home in the recent fires there.
The remaining quilts were planned to be given to an abused women's shelter, but as this was not needed urgently, the group voted that they go to local victims of the recent tornado.
The unfinished quilts were made available for members to take home & complete.  They include beautifully pieced tops, backs, binding & backing.  A few were taken at this meeting, & the remaining will be made available at future meetings for members to complete.  The majority of these are for Ronald McDonald House.

What a neat program our ladies presented this month.  Thank you Cee Cee, Vicky & Beverly B.  The program was a bed turning.  Cee Cee gave us a laugh as we went through her happy quilts, showing us her progression of piecing skills.  Vicky also showed us some of her older work to more recent beautiful offerings.  Beverly is a lover & collector of old quilts & showed us some of her interesting buys from estate sales & markets.

Show & tell is always a treat, but unfortunately I don't have many photos for you, as I hadn't planned on doing the blog.
Thank you to the ladies for providing wonderful refreshments.

12/17/2016

Looking back at the last 6 months.  Our Guild said goodbye to our President /Dawn who relocated to Canada and Denise who relocated to Florida. They both will be missed. To finish out the year we had a different team each month chair our meetings and what a great job they done.

Beverly Billingsley has graciously volunteered to be our 2017 President. Thank you Beverly.

Our Medallion Quilt challenge finished up around August with the last block being a Log Cabin. Everyone that participated brought in their quilts to show off their beautiful work.

All things must come to an end as our guild hosted the last AQS Chattanooga Show.  We had this privilege for 3 years and we would like to thank all the volunteers that helped with the shows.  We could not have done it with out you. Also, a special thanks to Dawn and Kathleen.

Charity Quilts--Thanks to everyone that brought in baby quilts for the Ronald McDonald House.

Christmas Party-  Thanks to Lauren for being our hosts once again.

As we close out this year we would like to thank everyone for making our guild a successful one and thanks for all their hard work, programs, show-n-tell, charity quilts and Quilts of Valor.
