AQS QUILTWEEK CHATTANOOGA, 2015

UPDATE FROM MEETING.
Since our last meeting, Kathleen Mc has advised me that she is willing to take over from me in spearheading volunteer recruitment.  I will assist Kathleen in any way I am able, & our guild will still be the leading guild for this.  We will not be supplying another Opportunity Quilt, & another guild will be invited to do this.

OUR VOLUNTEER AREA.

Having Duckie under the ticket tumbler seemed to draw people to the space.
These smaller quilts were used to show examples of the quilts we donate to Ronald McDonald House in Chattanooga.

Beverly was very pleased to be the winner of the quilt.  This is every special to her as Rhonda was the quilter.  Beverly & Rhonda's friendship goes back to when they were young children.

And this was how some of the supervisors were still able to walk at  the end of the show.

MY FAVORITES.

This one was spectacular, & my hanging team got to put it up.

These smaller quilts were in the Color display, & interestingly, the majority were made by Australians.

It was seeing the gum leaf, green cicada & snake on this that made me start reading, & found that they were made by Australians.

This one depicts the bushfires that occur regularly in Australia.

SEPTEMBER 9th, 2015 MEETING

A welcome was extended to Rhonda T, a friend of Linda Sma.  She is a new quilter wanting to learn more.  With Linda as a friend, she will have a good mentor.  We also welcomed Sandra Winkles, who brought fabric with her to sell for $3 yd.  The proceeds from this will go to the QOV group that some of us from this guild & Crazy Quilters guild attend at Fran's retreat each month.  The money is used for fabric & batting.

AQS show being held in a week.  We are doing well with the preparations, but did not get the number of volunteers for hostessing that was desired.
Also discussed was the fact that I would be unable to run the Volunteer Spot site for next year's show.  With the amount of time that I will be out of the country, I can only be a support to the person that is willing to do this.  I will try to get another guild to take this on.

PROGRAM.
Denise has been consulting with her breast plastic surgeon & the nurse patient advisors at the Mary Ellen Locher center, & has devised a better system to hold the drainage pouches that are needed after surgery.  Great presentation & handouts given for anyone wanting to participate in this.  Denise will collect any donations at meetings.

SHOW AND TELL

I am loving the quilting on Deb's quilt.

The back of the quilt 4 photos down.

At the conclusion of all this, we enjoyed refreshment & socialization with one another, - with the added bonus of shopping for fabric from Sandra.

Thanks to all that provided our refreshments this month.

NEXT MEETING:  October 13th 2015.  I will miss this meeting but be back for November meeting.  Gayle will be taking photos & notes, Vicky has a key to open up, & Rhonda F has the refreshment supply box.
